Magic added to Spooky City lineup

Costumed characters lead the childrens parade around Wehmhoff Square during the 2009 Spooky City event in Burlington.

A magic show has been added to the list of events included in this year’s 22nd annual Spooky City Saturday in downtown Burlington.

Members of the Milwaukee Society of Magicians will provide close-up and stage magic shows at the Plaza Theater beginning at noon.

Following the show, the Western Racine County United Way will give away “Live United” T-shirts.

At 1 p.m. the theater will show the Halloween classic “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” presented by Community State Bank.

Those events join the long list of traditional activities intended to provide safe trick or treating opportunities for children and other Halloween-themed events in the city’s downtown business district.

The list of events includes free face painting and prizes, free hayrides, a costume parade, “pumpkin” bowling at Towne & Country Lanes, and interactive Halloween movies at the Plaza Theater.
