| 7/16/2010 3:48:00 PM | Email this article Print this article | Yorkville Church welcomes new pastor The Rev. Sue Leih has been appointed as pastor at Yorkville United Methodist Church.
Leih is a second career pastor, with 12 years of ordained ministry. She has BS degrees in psychology and sociology with a special emphasis in criminology from UW-Madison. She also has a degree in medical technology with a minor in chemistry from UW-Parkside.
She worked as a medical technologist for many years, until she discerned her call to ordained ministry. She graduated in 1998 from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity degree and was appointed to serve at Aldersgate UMC in northwest Milwaukee. The past seven years she has been pastor at St. James UMC in East Troy.
She is married to Tom Leih who works for IBM. They have two children and one grandchild. The family resides in Caledonia.
A welcome potluck picnic will be held Sunday, July 18, after the 10:15 a.m., service at the home of Harry and Sherry Gruhn. Directions to their home will be available at the church. Those attending should bring a dish to pass and lawn chairs. Beverages, cups, plates and silverware will be provided. Those wishing to swim should bring suits and towels.
Guests are always welcome at Yorkville United Methodist Church, which is located at 17645 Old Yorkville Road (63rd Drive, just north of Highway 20). The church is completely accessible by elevator.
